About KRABS Biotechnology

KRABS Biotechnology is a startup in the biotechnology field focused on developing new antibodies using a methodology known as Phage Display.

The company has libraries of different types of antibodies (scFv, nanobodies), possessing a powerful R&D tool capable of generating numerous molecules for various applications.

With a technology that eliminates the need for animal use, we reduce the cost and development time of new antibodies, offering a more ethical and sustainable process.

Marcelo Zani

Partner and Co-Founder

Experience in protein biochemistry, recombinant protein production, and antibody development. Former Executive Director of KRABS (2019-2023).

Jair Chagas

Partner and Executive Director

Experience in protein biochemistry, enzymology, and biologically active peptides. Former Director of NIT at UNIFESP and current Executive Director of KRABS.

Vitor de Oliveira

Partner

Experience in protein biochemistry, enzymology, and modified protein development. Associate Professor at UNIFESP and partner at KRABS since 2022.

Aquiles Sant'Ana

Research and Development

Master and PhD in Biosystems from UFABC, with experience in recombinant protein production and antibody development. Coordinator of PIPE-FAPESP projects.

Samara Evangelista

Laboratory Technician

Undergraduate in Biotechnology at UFABC, with experience in cytogenetic techniques and molecular biology. Works in protein production and purification.

Giovana Carneiro

Laboratory Technician

Master in Biosystems from UFABC, with experience in cell culture and molecular biology. Specialist in antibody production line development.

Elizangela Carvalho

Research and Development

Master and PhD from the Molecular Biology graduate program at Escola Paulista de Medicina (EPM), UNIFESP. Experience in antimicrobial peptide interaction, enzyme inhibitors, enzymology, protein biochemistry, and new antibody development. Has been at KRABS since 2024.

João Roberto Borba

Partnerships and New Business

Extensive experience in business development and partnerships in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and fragrance industries. Has been at KRABS since 2023.

New topical drug for the treatment of Atopic Dermatitis (AD) using an inhibitory antibody of the protease kallikrein 7 (KLK7) activity in its formulation (Biological Drug).

KRABS Biotechnology was invited to participate in the world's largest Biotechnology event in Boston, with support from ABIQUIFI and APEX.

PIPE 3 Project under evaluation

KRABS Biotechnology goes through the qualification stage to have PIPE 3 project, from Fapesp, evaluated (2025/02848-4).

FINEP Project Approved

KRABS in partnership with Bioativa had FINEP project approved (2514/24) for developing immunoassay to detect agricultural defensives in honey.
